ANTIPOLO – After hearing the cheers on the court, PJ Simon quickly gets to be on the other side on Sunday night to support his fiancee, Jehza Huelar, in the 2018 Binibining Pilipinas contest.
Following Magnolia’s 87-78 win over NLEX in Game Five to take a 3-2 lead in their PBA Philippine Cup semifinals series at the Ynares Center, the Hotshots star headed straight to Smart-Araneta Coliseum to cheer for his partner.
“Actually dederetso na ako dun ngayon to support,” Simon said as he was rushing to leave the venue.
The longtime Purefoods franchise player provided a spark off the bench in Game Five, tallying seven points, three rebounds, and one assist, without a turnover in 15 minutes as the Hotshots moved on the verge of a finals stint after falling short the last three conferences.
Simon is hoping for it to be a double celebration after Huelar also fell short in the 2016 Binibi competition, settling for second runner-up honors.
“Tonight is a big night para sa amin,” Simon said. “Hopefully matapos na ngayon para next game, makanood na ulit sila. Sobrang busy rin ng schedule nila.”
