PJ Simon vividly remembers the time he and Star found themselves on the wrong side of history.
"Oo naaalala pa namin 'yun. Kami yung No. 1 seed tinalo kami ng No. 8 seed," he said.
That was in the 2012 PBA Philippine Cup when an eight-seeded Powerade team stunned the top seed B-Meg squad of which Simon was a vital cog of then coach Tim Cone along with James Yap and Marc Pingris.
Simon is looking to reverse the franchise's fortune this time as Star moved a win away from accomplishing the same feat this time after a 108-99 win over top seed San Miguel in their PBA Commissioner's Cup quarterfinal playoffs on Monday.

The veteran shooting guard had a huge hand in the reversal by pumping in 22 points on 7 of 13 shooting in the absence of longtime teammate James Yap, including 18 in the second half to emerge Best Player of the Game.
The comeback win forged a winner-take-all match with the twice-to-beat Beermen on Wednesday and Simon hopes Star can atone for that 2012 reversal by pulling off the mother of all upsets.
"Hopefully sa favor naman namin mangyari ngayon," said Simon. "Yung pressure pantay pantay na, kaya bahala na sa Wednesday."
