WHAT happens on the basketball court should stay on the basketball court.
But that was not the case on Saturday night after San Mig Coffee's 84-83 win over Alaska when Mixers forward Marc Pingris found himself at the receiving end of an Alaska lady fan's fury.
Pingris, who had a lot of physical and verbal confrontations with Alaska rookie Calvin Abueva during the thrilling match, received some harsh words from the fan and was even shown the dirty finger, forcing security at the Big Dome to step in.
"After noong game lumapit siya sa akin," recalled Pingris. "Tapos sabi niya, 'Mayabang ka, Pingris!'"
Pingris, who at that time was obliging for photo requests from fans, responded: "Okay lang po, Ma'am."
Instead of calming down, the lady fan flashed the dirty finger.
"Doon na ako nag-react talaga, sabi ko sa kanya, Ma'am, bawal po yan dito (sa PBA)," he said.
The furious lady was later escorted by Araneta Coliseum security out of the premises to avoid the situation from getting out of hand.
Pingris said he understood the lady's passion for the game and her loyalty to her team, but he insisted that showing him a middle finger is uncalled for.
