NORTHPORT team manager Pido Jarencio has been fined P20,000 and given a firm warning for the verbal threat he committed against NLEX import Thomas Robinson after the two teams' PBA Commissioner's Cup game last week.
PBA commissioner Willie Marcial announced the fine and warning on Jarencio upon receiving the recommendation of the league’s technical committee.

The league chief added Jarencio called him up and personally apologized for the incident, but that didn’t mean he would be spared of any sanction.
“Basketball yan, e. May murahan, asaran pag naglalaro. Ang problema nga lang, nag-ano siya ng grave threat,” said Marcial on Wednesday night during the first game of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup between Phoenix and Terrafirma at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

A repetition of the same act would merit Jarencio a stiffer penalty and possible suspension.
“Pag inulit niya yun, malamang suspension o mas malaking fine or pareho,” said Marcial.
Robinson meanwhile, was no longer fined following his exit as NLEX import on Tuesday.
The incident happened last week in NLEX’s 112-104 win over Northport that saw Robinson and Northport governor Eric Arejola initially having a verbal spat on the court after the game.
The confrontation spilled into the hallway of the Big Dome, with Jarencio eventually joining the fray. He was heard hollering threats at the former NBA player.
Thomas and Jarencio were supposed to be summoned the day after by Marcial, but the NLEX import, the No. 5 overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft, abruptly left for a trip to Palawan and Boracay with his family.
Marcial explains delay
“Hindi pa namin naririnig parehas yung panig (ng dalawa), so unfair naman yun. So pagdating niya (Thomas) dito (Manila) tsaka pa lang namin kakausapin at tsaka pa lang kami magdi-desisyon. Baka akala nila dinrible-dribble lang (yung desisyon),” said Marcial on , why it took a week before a decision was handed down on the incident.
“Nung nalaman ko na wala ng kontrata (Thomas), sinabihan ko na yung technical committee na kailangan ko na 'yung recommendation and decision ninyo.”
The departure of Robinson left Jarencio missing on the opportunity of smoking the peace pipe with the import as the Northport official vowed to shake hands with Robinson once they meet again during PBA games.
