PHOENIX Pulse overcame a 14-point deficit after scoring 45 points in the third quarter on its way to a 111-103 win over Barangay Ginebra on Friday in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

Matthew Wright and Richard Howell fueled a huge comeback in the third period as the Fuel Masters won their second straight game to go 4-4, tying Barangay Ginebra and idle Alaska for fifth place in the standings.

It was a sorry defeat for the Gin Kings, who only gave up 44 points following a 12-point lead at the half. Ginebra was still leading, 64-50, in the third quarter but trailed, 81-89, entering the fourth.

Phoenix Pulse also won with head coach Louie Alas getting ejected in the fourth quarter for two successive technical fouls.

Phoenix Pulse assistant coach Topex Robinson took over following Alas’ ejection.

“I have to give credit to my coaching staff. I know na kaya ko sila kasama diyan at kaya hindi assistant coach ang title, associate coach si coach Topex at ‘yung staff namin, credit to them plus ‘yung leaders namin,” said Alas.
