PHOENIX Pulse again goes for the No. 1 spot and the twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals when it takes on streaking San Miguel in the PBA Philippine Cup on Saturday at the Panabo Multi-Purpose Tourism Sports and Cultural Center in Davao Del Norte.
The Fuel Masters and the Beermen clash at 5 p.m. in the Petron Blaze Saturday Special.
Phoenix (8-2) looks to clinch the twice-to-beat advantage in the playoffs for the last time after failing to do it last Sunday when the Fuel Masters bowed to Barangay Ginebra, 100-97.
“Breaks of the game but at least, ‘yung fate namin, nasa kamay pa rin namin,” said Phoenix Pulse coach Louie Alas. “We just have to beat the mighty San Miguel na on a roll. Malay mo doon lumabas ‘yung pinakamagandang depensa namin. It’s still possible.”
The Beermen are still in contention for the twice-to-beat advantage in quarterfinals as they have won four straight matches to take joint third with TNT with a 6-3 slate.
San Miguel came away with a 113-107 win over NorthPort last Sunday with June Mar Fajardo scoring 40 points and grabbing 19 rebounds in the match.
