    Phoenix guns for top seeding in quarters as Fuel Masters face Ginebra

    PHOENIX Pulse seeks to secure a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals on Sunday with a marquee match-up against Barangay Ginebra in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

    The Fuel Masters battle the Kings at 6:45 p.m.

    At 8-1, Phoenix Pulse is one victory away from clinching the top seed for the first time in franchise history, and they will have to do it against the crowd darlings.

    The Fuel Masters clinched their third straight win last Wednesday, defeating Magnolia, 89-87, following a game-winning triple by Jason Perkins.

    Phoenix Pulse coach Louie Alas is determined to give the team a strong finish heading into the playoffs.

    “Although importante na magsimula ka nang maganda, pero it’s how you finish in this conference,” said Alas.

    The Kings (3-3) are looking to bounce back from their 104-78 loss to Alaska last week.

    In the 4:30 game, San Miguel looks to extend its winning streak to four when it goes up against NorthPort.

    The Beermen (5-3), in a tie with TNT for third spot in the team standings, recently beat NLEX, 121-111, as they are still looking to gain a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.

    The Batang Pier (2-4) suffered a heartbreaker to Meralco, 126-123, in double overtime to slump to their fourth consecutive defeat.
