PHOENIX Super LPG and TNT tropang Giga clash for the lead in their PBA Philippine Cup semifinal showdown on Sunday afternoon at the Angeles University Foundation Sports Arena and Cultural Center.
Fresh from their 110-103 win in Game Two, Phoenix looks to move closer in the bid to book the franchise’s first-ever finals appearance.
The game is set at 3:45 p.m.
“It’s a big win for us to get our bearings back. Hopefully, we can prolong the series,” said Phoenix coach Topex Robinson.
Jason Perkins scored 21 points, and Calvin Abueva had 20 points and 15 rebounds in the Game Two victory, a performance which Robinson hopes that they can carry come Sunday’s match.
Matthew Wright is still nursing a sprained ankle and it is still uncertain if he is able to stay on the court longer for the Fuel Masters.
TNT seeks to bounce back from the close defeat in which Bobby Ray Parks’ 41-point effort went to waste. Parks tied a franchise-record 10 threes in Game Two before fouling out.
Robinson said he is wary about Parks’ play, and it will require a collective effort on the defensive end to contain the TNT star.
“Ang importante sa amin is to make sure that everybody is involve on our end defending Ray Parks. It’s just one guys’ responsibility but the rest. ‘Yun ang importante sa amin, coming into Game Three and the rest of the series,” said Robinson.
Robinson is also expecting other TNT players to step up including Jayson Castro, who was limited to only nine points in Friday’s match.
