PHOENIX has its eyes set on Abu Tratter in the upcoming 2018 PBA Rookie Draft as it seeks to fortify its undersized frontline.
Fuel Masters coach Louie Alas has made no qualms about taking the former La Salle big man as the fourth overall pick, convinced that Tratter is the best big man available in this guard-heavy class.
"Kung siya ang umabot sa amin, yes, we will take him," the affable mentor told Spin.ph.
Standing at 6-foot-6, Tratter is so far the tallest of the applicants to declare for the annual rookie proceedings, set on December 16.
The Laguna-born Fil-Am won a UAAP championship with the Green Archers in 2016, and also suited up for Gilas Pilipinas in the second window of the 2019 Fiba World Cup Asian qualifiers in its away game versus Australia in Melbourne back in February.
Tratter has also spent his past season with Marinerong Pilipino in the PBA D-League.
If Alas' plans come to fruition, Tratter will be reunited with his former La Salle teammate Jason Perkins at Phoenix, which had Calvin Abueva, Justin Chua, Joseph Eriobu, Doug Kramer, and Perkins to man the paint this past season.
