THE Philippine contingent to the 27th Southeast Asian Games in Singapore will wear the traditional barong attire during the opening ceremony slated on June 5.
The SEA Games secretariat on Wednesday released the official attire of the Philippine delegation in what is considered a welcome change for the entire Filipino side to the biennial meet.
For the past few years, Filipino athletes to the SEA Games wore track suits during the traditional opening rites, unlike other participating countries which parade in their national attire to showcase their respective culture.
Volleyball star Alyssa Valdez will carry the Philippine flag during the parade of nations to be held at the National Stadium located at the Singapore Sports Hub.
