PETRON'S rejuvenated game is giving Chris Lutz enough time to recuperate from his injury.
The Fil-American guard has been sidelined the last two weeks by a fractured rib and may need three more weeks before he can return to action, but he is in no rush to rejoin the Boosters.
“I got time, our team is playing well," said Lutz, who suffered the injury right on Petron's first game of the PBA Commissioner's Cup against Globalport. "Hopefully I can get back and help in the playoffs.”
Lutz also bared his injury is serious enough that it needs to be given time to heal, pointing out that one rib was not only fractured but was also displaced.
“It was fractured. The rib was displaced and it was moved. So the only thing I can do is rest and let it heal,” said Lutz. “But it’s getting better, it’s still a little sore, but in a couple of weeks it will heal."
While he is away, Lutz is keeping his fingers crossed that the Boosters will continue their an amazing run that has seen them win three games in a row after an opening loss.
“We’re playing a lot better, guys are playing inspired. Every player is doing a great job. If we can just keep it going, keep up the intensity on defense, anything can happen," he said.
Asked if underachieving Petron is finally starting to show its real worth, Lutz said he can only hope for the best.
“Obviously we were disappointed last season, we had a lot of things going on last conference, a lot of injuries, changing coach. Through all that we’ve been getting better the whole time," he said.
“Ours being a tough team is all media. We just come out and play hard everyday, but as a team, we needed time to get together and get better, and definitely, we’re doing that now."
