PETRON suffered a double blow on Thursday night when Fil-Am guard Marcio Lassiter was taken out of the Big Dome in an ambulance and rushed to a hospital for tests after a scary fall in the final quarter of the Boosters' heartbreaking 87-92 loss to San Mig Coffee.

The Boosters' sophomore shooting guard landed hard on his back while trying to deflect an inbounds pass by PJ Simon to James Yap during the midway point of the fourth quarter.

Lassiter had to helped out by his teammates after lying on his stomach for several minutes on the floor. He couldn’t sit down when he was brought to the bench, and later on, was placed in a stretcher and wheeled immediately to Medical City in Pasig City for further medical attention.

At posting time, Petron coach Olsen Racela said Lassiter was being prepared for X-rays on his back.

Initial reports from the team said Lassiter may have hurt the base of his spine, which made it difficult for the former Smart Gilas shooter to lie down on his back.

Until the freak accident, Lassiter had been one of the sparks for Petron, scoring 16 points on four three-pointers.
