PETRON veteran Danny Ildefonso is looking forward to a fresh start to his career after undergoing surgery on Friday to repair his dislocated shoulder.
The 35-year-old Urdaneta City native went under the knife at the University of Santo Tomas Hospital in Manila to finally resolve problems with his shoulder which he has dislocated five times in his career.
“Everything went well naman sa procedure,” texted Ildefonso's wife Ren. "Successful yung operation."
Although he may need six months to fully recover, the hard-banging former National University star is optimistic that he’ll make up for lost time once he returns to the court completely healthy.
The Petron veteran has won two league MVPs but the latter part of his 15-year career has been time and again blighted by injuries.
Ildefonso is set to be discharged by lunch time on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Petron guard Chris Lutz will need four weeks to recover from a bruised ribs he sustained in a game against San Mig Coffee Mixers while Alex Cabagnot will be out for two weeks due to an inverted sprain on one ankle.
