THE Petron Blaze Boosters have finally come to terms with an import for the coming Governors Cup and his name is Millsap.
Nope, its not Utah Jazz mainstay Paul Millsap but his younger brother Elijah.
San Miguel Corp. sports director Noli Eala has confirmed that Petron has agreed terms with Millsap, who played for the LA Defenders in the NBA D-League with season averages of 17.4 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game.
Eala also tweeted that “Elijah is versatile who can play multiple positions on the floor. Excellent defender and comes from a terrific basketball pedigree.”
Listed as 6-5, the 25-year-old small forward is described by NBA scouts "as packing a solid 210-pounds and a terrific wingspan"
Draftexpress.com said the younger Millsap "has the strength necessary to absorb contact on his way to the rim while still finishing plays in addition to being able to post up same size or small backcourt players."
Millsap is expected to arrive in the country in late July, after his stint in the NBA Summer League in the US.
Eala denied Petron denied negotiations with Oythus Jeffers, contrary to claims made by the import prospect's Philippine agent, Sheryl Reyes, to Spin.ph.
“Hindi pa makapirma si Othyus kasi nasa summer league pa siya,” said Reyes in a previous interview. “Hindi pa kami maka-sign kasi nga he’s still there.”
