PETRON looks to get right back on track days after prolific import Renaldo Balkman was banned by the PBA with the possible acquisition of former Cleveland Cavaliers center-forward Samardo Samuels.
The Boosters have tendered an offer to the 6-foot-9 Jamaican out of the University of Louisville who was a backup to Antawn Jamison with the Cavs and once scored a career-high 23 points and 10 rebounds against the San Antonio Spurs on March 2, 2011.
Samuels last played for the Reno Big Horns in the NBA D-League, averaging 20.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.2 blocks in 21 games.
The Boosters next game is on Saturday in Panabo city against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.
Before deciding on Samuels, Petron had an eye on Rodney White, but there were complications including rights owned by Barako Bull.
A source also informed Spin.ph that the Blaze Boosters tried to negotiate with former import Gabe Freeman to play at least one game for the team, but the cat-quick American wingman apparently is still recovering from an injury.
Other players considered for the post vacated by Balkman were Brian Butch and Brian Cook.
