THE PBA is hoping to have all PBA players ad employees vaccinated before staging the 2021 season.

PBA vice chairman Bobby Rosales said the league is drafting a vaccination program in the hope of holding a tournament without the need for a bubble setup.

Rosales made it clear that the bubble remains an option for the 46th season, although it will again be very costly for the league.

“Bubble is still an option on the table. It’s very costly not only financially but you also have to address the mental health inside the bubble.

“If we want to resume or open the season at the soonest possible time, the vaccination of the PBA family will be the first order of the day,” said Rosales.

PBA commissioner Willie Marcial hopes the vaccines would be available by May or June.

“We believe that when everybody is vaccinated, it will be easier for the government and the IATF to allow the season to open,” said Rosales. “But of course, we are waiting on what other protocols or guidelines the IATF will ask the PBA even if everybody has been vaccinated.

Rosales said he doesn’t see a supply problem since the MVP Group and the San Miguel Corporation have offered to help, while the PBA is also making arrangements with the Philippine Red Cross.

“The big question mark is the supply is just starting to come in and we want to open soon, then we will have to start vaccinating everybody,” said Rosales.

Rosales said Marcial will be meeting with Inter-Agency Task Force officials about the matter.

“The commissioner is scheduled to meet with the IATF soon, I think by next week, the meeting has been scheduled so we can clarify from the government what are the guidelines of the government and if we have been able to secure the supply, if there is any way we can expedite further the vaccination program of the PBA,” Rosales said.
