THE PBA is once again sanctioning referees after Game Three of the Governors’ Cup quarterfinals between Converge and San Miguel on Monday.
Commissioner Willie Marcial said they will be suspending the referees who worked Monday’s quarterfinal match between the FiberXers and the Beermen for a call made with 0.6 seconds left in the first quarter.
The FiberXers won, 114-112.

Marcial didn’t reveal the identities of the referees, but the stats sheet indicated that Peter Balao, Mike Flordeliza, Joel Baldago, and Kenny Hallig officiated the game.
Marcial's announcement came on the same day the PBA suspended referee Rey Yante for the rest of the conference for missing a goaltending violation late in Rain or Shine’s 111-106 win over Magnolia on Sunday.

This time, a flagrant foul penalty two was initially charged to Converge guard Alec Stockton for an elbow that knocked down SMB guard Kris Rosales, but the call was later downgraded to a flagrant foul penalty one after a review.
The flagrant two would have resulted in an ejection for Stockton, but the Converge guard took advantage of the reprieve to hit the game-winner at the buzzer in the 114-112 Game Three victory.
That enabled the FiberXers to stay alive in the best-of-five quarterfinal series, which the Beermen still lead, 2-1, heading to Game 4 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
