THE PBA has summoned Poy Erram and Paul Varilla of NLEX after they were ejected in Monday’s quarterfinal match against NorthPort.
PBA commissioner Willie Marcial confirmed Erram and Varilla have been asked to appear in his office on Tuesday or a day before NLEX’s do-or-die contest against NorthPort to determine which team will advance to the semifinals.
Erram and Varilla were ejected from the match won by NorthPort for their role in the fight that also involved Batang Pier import Michael Qualls. Midway in the fourth quarter, Qualls was seen stepping on Varilla which led to Erram hitting Qualls at the back of the head.
Varilla was also seen hitting Qualls as well in retaliation to the act of the NorthPort import.
The commissioner’s decision could have a big impact on NLEX’s bid to reach the semifinals. The top-seeded team are endanger of not advancing to the next round after NorthPort’s 115-90 win.
