THE PBA Commissioner’s Office is expected to summon anytime within the week Calvin Abueva and import Terrence Jones following the incident between the two that marred the PBA Commissioner’s Cup game between Phoenix and TnT Katropa on Sunday.
Commissioner Willie Marcial said inivitations had already been sent to both parties, particularly the 31-year-old Abueva, who has been involved in two straight controversial episodes over the weekend.
Hefty fines are expected to be meted out by the league, and perhaps, a possible suspension.
‘The Beast’ was thrown out of the game on Sunday at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo after delivering a clothesline on TNT import Jones midway through the fourth period of a highly-emotional game that saw five other personnel getting ejected.
Just before the incident, Abueva was heard telling table officials to watch what he will do next to the 6-foot-9 Jones, who was knocked down following the blow and was left with a bloodied lower lip.
Apparently, the Phoenix star was complaining about a non-call on Jones in an earlier play where he claimed the prolific import hit him in the groin.
But the case with Jones is just half of what Abueva is facing.
The former NCAA MVP from San Sebastian is also under fire for his verbal tussle with Maika Rivera, girlfriend of Blackwater rookie Bobby Ray Parks, late in the game of the Fuel Masters’ 103-98 win over the Elite last week.
Marcial has already delegated PBA legal counsel Atty. Melvin Mendoza to investigate the matter.
