AS the PBA prepares to implement the four-point shot in the coming season, there are questions about how it will be treated in the stats sheet.
Among those who have questions was former San Miguel guard Alex Cabagnot and it concerns his former teammate Marcio Lassiter, who is chasing history in the all-time PBA career three-pointer list.
“If Cio makes a four-pointer, does it count for his three-point record or a new stat all in all?” Cabagnot posted on X, formerly Twitter.

Lassiter is currently running third in the three-point race with 1,236, just six behind No. 2 Allan Caidic and only 14 behind all-time league-leader Jimmy Alapag.
When asked, PBA commissioner Willie Marcial said they are already the process of discussing how the four-point shot is going to be treated in the statistics of the league.
But in his opinion, the four-point shot should not be considered as a separate statistic. He explained that the four-point will only to be implemented this year, and therefore could still be scrapped after this season.
“Ang sa akin, kapag four points, as of now, counted pa rin as three points,” said Marcial. “Sana hindi naman pero paano kung mawala ‘yun, pang-tres din ‘yun. ‘Yun ang sa akin.”

“Mag-uusap kami ng stats at technical committee kung papaano,” said Marcial.
Lassiter isn’t the only active player that is on the all-time list.
LA Tenorio of Barangay Ginebra is at No. 4 with 1,219, while James Yap of Blackwater is at No. 5 with 1,178.
