THE PBA has postponed Friday’s Governors’ Cup doubleheader including the match between Meralco and Rain or Shine to give way to the Bolts’ participation in the Fiba Asia Champions Cup.
PBA commissioner Willie Marcial said the league postponed the game originally slated at the Ynares Center in Antipolo as the Bolts are set to go up against Mono Vampire Basketball Club on Thursday and Alvark Tokyo on Friday in Stadium 29 in Nonthaburi, Thailand.
Also shelved was the first game between Blackwater and Alaska. Both games were tentatively moved to October 21 to be played at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
The postponement of games, however, means that Alaska will be resuming its Governors' Cup campaign on October 3 against Rain or Shine. The Aces last saw action last September 2 in a loss to Barangay Ginebra.
The Bolts are competing in the Fiba Asia Champions Cup along with seven other ballclubs from Asia. Aside from Mono Vampire, Meralco is bracketed with Al Riyadi Beirut in Group B and the Bolts will go up against the reigning champion on Saturday.
Allen Durham will be joined in the team by former Barako Bull import Liam McMorrow to shore up the Bolts lineup that will be missing Ranidel de Ocampo and Jared Dillinger.
The Bolts will resume their PBA campaign on October 5 against Blackwater.
