NOT just one or two, but three venues, one each from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, are set to host the PBA All-Star festivities this year in the last week of April.
Cagayan de Oro will host the first day on April 26, then the show continues in Lucena two days later, before Cebu hosts the final day on April 30.
Quezon governor Jayjay Suarez was proud to announce that Lucena is set to be one of the hosts, addressing the crowd at the half of Game Two of the Philippine Cup Finals on Sunday in Lucena.
League media bureau chief Willie Marcial then explained the format in detail.
The showcase features Gilas Pilipinas taking on the PBA All-Stars in three exhibition matches, with the national mainstays who are natives of the provinces or cities from the venue of the leg suiting up for the All-Star team.
For example: If the Gilas player is from Luzon, then he can’t suit up for the national team in the Lucena leg, but will instead be playing for the All-Stars.
Lucena will also host the side events, namely the obstacle challenge, Slam Dunk contest, and the three-point shootout.
“PBA, thank you for giving us the opportunity to host,” Suarez said.
