Keith Datu's timely three-point barrage lifts Rain or Shine past NLEX

RAIN or Shine strung up a second straight win by beating NLEX, 113-101, and kept its hopes alive of making the PBA Commissioner's Cup playoffs on Friday.

The Elasto Painters opened the final period behind a 9-1 run sparked by rookie Keith Datu's timely treys to break free from an 84-all contest aon the way to a 93-85 lead.

By the time Rey Nambatac hit a running floater, it was already a 104-91 contest for Rain or Shine on its way to improving its record to 2-5 overall.

"It's a good win for us. It puts us in a better position," said winning coach Yeng Guiao.

NLEX lost for a third straight game for a similar 2-5 slate.

Treadwell complements ROS locals

Import Demetrius Treadwell, Nambatac, and fit-again rookie Datu made the game-changing run possible after Rain or Shine trailed by as many as 11 early in the first half.

Treadwell continued to complement the Rain or Shine locals with his double-double of 23 points and 18 rebounds, Nambatac had 12 and Datu added 11 and five rebounds in only his second game for the team after missing five games due to pneumonia.

    He was 3-of-7 from three-point range, all of which came during that telling run by the Elasto Painters.

    Andrei Caracut also had 12 points, 10 of them came in the third quarter as he and rookie Adrian Nocum engineered a Rain or Shine comeback that tied the game at 84 entering the final period.

    Stokley Chaffee finished with 32 points to show the way for NLEX, which has yet to win since the exit of import Thomas Robinson.

    Don Trollano had 21 points and Kris Rosales 13 for the Road Warriors.
