THE PBA is saddened by the shooting incident involving NorthPort guard John Amores on Wednesday in Lumban, Laguna.
PBA commissioner Willie Marcial declined further comment on the matter on Thursday with Amores now in police custody.
"This is a matter subject of investigation by the police, and we cannot comment on it. But we are saddened by such unfortunate incident," said Marcial in a brief statement.

As inquest proceedings begin on Thursday, a big question mark is whether Amores can still play again in the PBA - or in professional basketball, as a whole.
It is also unclear whether the PBA will impose a sanction on Amores, who could face jail time if proven guilty of the charge of attempted murder for shooting a certain Lee Cacalda at a highway in Barangay Maylatang Uno in Lumban, Laguna.
Amores and Cacalda, according to the police blotter, got into a heated argument in a pick-up basketball game at Barangay Salac. An amount of P4,000 was reportedly at stake in the game.
Aside from CCTV footage of the shooting, a video of the argument that has been circulating online showing a person, presumably Cacalda, challenging Amores to a fight as Amores and a companion left the area on a motorcycle.
The companion who drove the motorcycle was later identified by police as Amores' 20-year-old brother who was also taken in custody, as he accompanied Amores during the shooting incident.
No one, including Cacalda, was hurt from the incident.

The incident comes just three days after NorthPort concluded its campaign in the PBA Governors' Cup where they didn't reach the playoffs and finished with a 3-7 win-loss card.
The Batang Pier have yet to comment on the matter.
