UNDECIDED coaches get a closer look at the rookie aspirants who will strut their stuff in the PBA Draft Combine starting on Wednesday at the Gatorade Hoops Center.
With Blackwater reportedly set to make Mac Belo the No. 1 overall pick in the special draft for Gilas cadets and basically the entire 2016 class, the intrigue starts with the second selection, which Star owns.
New Hotshots coach Chito Victolero insisted they have yet to make up their mind on their prized pick in the Gilas draft.
“Wala pang final,” Victolero, whose team also has the fifth pick in the first round of the regular draft, told Spin.ph on Monday. “We’ll try to assess pa everything late this week then we’ll come up with our final decision.”
NCAA superstar point guard Jio Jalalon is rated as among the top picks in the special draft, but the Hotshots already have a surplus of playmakers in RR Garcia, Mark Barroca, Justin Melton, and newcomer Paul Lee.
That makes the decision tougher for Victolero and the rest of the coaches during the Draft on Sunday at Robinsons Place Manila in Ermita.
First, the scouts are set to attend the two-day rookie camp where the 55-man field will be divided into eight teams of six to seven players.
The applicants will take part in athleticism, agility, speed, and other skills tests on Wednesday, before playing in a single-round elimination tournament the next day.
