JAPETH Aguilar has retired from Gilas Pilipinas, but that won’t be the case for Barangay Ginebra in the PBA.
The 38-year-old Aguilar said he still has a lot left in the PBA, and retirement with the Gin Kings is far from his mind.

“Hindi pa naman,” said Aguilar, when asked if he is also thinking about retiring from the PBA. “Meron pang a few left in my contract.”
Aguilarhas two more years in his contract with Ginebra, meaning that the versatile big man will be playing with the Gin Kings until he is 40.
Aguilar is coming off one of his best seasons in the 2024-25 campaign when he averaged 15.0 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 0.8 blocks, and made it to the 49th Season Mythical Second Team.

In the 50th Season Philippine Cup, Aguilar is also on a roll with averages of 14.0 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 1.1 blocks with the Gin Kings.
His career in the PBA is actually slightly shorter than that with the national team.
Although he was drafted No. 1 overall by Burger King in 2009, Aguilar opted to play for Smart Gilas, a team that was kept together for a couple of years under head coach Rajko Toroman.
Aguilar then played with TNT in 2011 and GlobalPort in 2013, before moving to Ginebra during that same year.
