THE PBA has postponed the All-Star originally slated in Davao from May 2 to 4.
League commissioner Willie Marcial made the announcement on Wednesday, saying that the annual festivities for this season may either be moved to a later date or cancelled.
“Ang All-Star natin as of now, postponed sa Davao dahil sa security concern at ‘yung sinasabi ng organizer na oras. Tinignan natin ‘yung makakabuti sa karamihan kaya natin pinostpone,” said Marcial.
Marcial said there is a prospective host in Visayas that could replace Davao.
“Tignan natin kung maaayos, pero kung hindi (naayos) within two weeks or after Holy Week, baka ma-cancel ‘yung All-Star natin,” said Marcial.
Marcial, nevertheless, said that the PBA will still contribute to the players’ trust fund even if there is a cancellation of the All-Star.
“Magbibigay pa rin ang PBA sa trust fund para sa mga players kasi ‘yun ang binibigay natin kapag All-Star,” said Marcial.
Marcial was also thankful to Davao Del Norte governor Edwin Jubahib and Panabo City mayor Jose Relampagos for their desire to host the All-Star Weekend.
