BRACE for an overload of PBA action in the season-opening Governors’ Cup.
Commissioner Willie Marcial said the league schedule for the first month of Season 49 calls for games to be played six times a week as it gives way to Gilas Pilipinas’ campaign in the second window of the Asia Cup qualifiers and the participation of both San Miguel and Meralco in the second home-and-away season of the EASL.
“Magiging six times a week na tayo because of Gilas and yung EASL,” said Marcial.

That means games will now be played from Tuesday to Sunday, with Monday serving as the sole rest day.
“Yung six days a week kung hindi ako nagkakamali isang buwan lang naman, tapos balik ulit tayo sa dati,” Marcial added.
Two games will still be played per game day, with the curtain raiser starting at 5 p.m. and the main game set at 7:30 p.m.
The schedule varies should there be a provincial game on a Saturday, according to Marcial.
“Saturday kapag may out-of-town tayo, 6 p.m. ang laro. Pero kapag wala, ganun pa rin ang schedule natin para uniform, para dire-diretso na,” he said.
The schedule will return to normal come the playoffs when games are held Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.
Marcial also assured all games will be televised on free television RPTV Channel 9.
“Ipapalabas yan araw-araw kasi atin 'yung airtime from 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. kaya wala tayong problema sa TV,” said the commissioner.
