A BENEFIT fun run on Sunday highlights the second week of the Philippine Basketball Association 38th Anniversary celebration.
Players from the 10 PBA teams and the Developmental League will participate in the event featuring races in 10-kilometer, 5K, 3K and 2K distances with the start-finish line set at the Frontera Verde in Tiendesitas in Pasig City.
Members of PBA teams that have been eliminated will be participating in the run, while those that are still seeing action in the Commissioner’s Cup will make an appearance at the start-finish line.
Proceeds of the event will go to the PCMC and Hemathology Centers that cater to the indigent patients needing chemotherapy treatment, according to the league.
The celebration will be capped by the PBA All-Star Week set May 1 to 6 in Digos, Davao where a PBA selection will take on the Philippine team that will see action in the Fiba-Asia tournament the country is hosting in August.
The league also granted scholarships for this school year to nine students from 275 applicants.
“We are expecting 5,000 runners to take part, who will be given the privilege of posing for photos and sign autographs with their favorite players,” said Rhose Montreal, the PBA business development director recently.
