THE rivalry between the SMC and MVP groups is spilling over to the PBA All-Star game.

The league announced on Wednesday that coaches Norman Black (Meralco), Yeng Guiao (NLEX), and Nash Racela (TnT Katropa) will take turns calling the shots for the Smart-Philippine men's team which battles three PBA All-Star selections during the May 23 to 27 extravaganza.

The three take over the coaching chore from national team mentor Chot Reyes.

The three All-Star teams will be coached by Barangay Ginebra's Tim Cone (Mindanao), Leo Austria of San Miguel (Luzon), and Magnolia's Chito Victolero (Visayas).

Black handles the national squad against the Mindanao All-Star in Digos, Davao del Sur on May 23 while Guiao coaches the Philippine team on the 25th against the Luzon All-Star in Batangas City.

Racela takes over the national team on the 27th in Iloilo City versus the Visayas All-Star.

This serves as a homecoming of sort for both Black and Guiao.

Black last coached an All-Star game in 1997 yet, while Guiao was at the helm of the North All-Star team that thrashed the South All-Star in a high-scoring game, 154-151, during the 2016 edition of the meet held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

For his part, Racela will be making his All-Star coaching debut.
