Negotiations are ongoing for the possibility of holding a game in the Season 50 Governors’ Cup at the newly-opened SM Seaside Arena in Cebu.
Commissioner Willie Marcial disclosed having talked to the management of the largest indoor arena in the 'Queen City of the South,' especially with the best-of-seven finals of the season-ending conference slated middle of December.
“Nakipag-usap tayo sa SM sa Cebu. Baka makalaro tayo ng finals,” said the commissioner. “Tingnan natin. Sana lang. Pero nag-uusap kami.”
The arena, reportedly built to the staggering amount of P7 billion, was inaugurated last July, with Marcial among those who graced the formal opening ceremony.

A celebrity basketball game featuring actors Gerald Anderson and David Licauco was the first-ever sports event to be held at the venue.
The East Asia Super League, however, was the first official tournament hosted by the SM Prime Holdings-owned stadium when it held the opener of its Home and Away Season 3 featuring the league debut of Abra Weavers against Hong Kong Eastern, as well as a matchup between Macau Hou Chon and Taipei Fubon Braves.
Barely two weeks ago, it staged its biggest games ever during the opener of the PVL’s 10th anniversary season which drew a sellout crowd of 19,106, as it featured the double-header of Choco Mucho vs. Capital1 then Creamline vs. Akari.
