THE PBA announced that the 2021 Governors’ Cup will open on Dec. 8 but without fans at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
The second conference will feature imports with a height limit of 6-foot-6. The league is featuring imports for the first time during the pandemic, but without an audience for the meantime.
PBA commissioner Willie Marcial said the league is now speaking with officials of different LGUs about allowing spectators in their arenas. Marcial said they will speak with Pasay City officials on Dec. 1 for the holding of the matches at the Mall of Asia Arena this conference.
The PBA was originally slated to open the Governors’ Cup on Sunday, but the late entry of the imports and the need for them to undergo quarantine forced the league to push back the opening of the games.
Mikey Williams and the Tropang Giga eye a second straight title.
With restrictions beginning to ease in Metro Manila, the PBA is planning to stage the games with a limited number of audience under strict health and safety protocols.
The Smart-Araneta Coliseum, Filoil Flying V Centre, Mall of Asia Arena and Ynares Center are the other venues being considered.
“Tinatawag kami ng kanya-kanyang konseho para mag-present sa kanila,” said Marcial.
