TICKETS for Sunday’s opener of the PBA 41st season at the Smart Araneta Coliseum had to be refunded since the new schedule will be held in a different playing venue.
The opening playdate was moved to Wednesday due to Typhoon Lando. But the second playdate of the Philippine Cup will be held at the Mall of Asia Arena since the UAAP men’s basketball games have already been booked in advance at the Big Dome, thus necessitating the ticket refunding.
Ticketholders for the postponed game between Rain or Shine and Star can refund it until November 15, as per the advisory issued by the league.
“Kailangan i-refund yun for two things: One, magkaiba ang ticket allocations ng Mall of Asia and Araneta. Yung seat no. ng Big Dome iba sa MOA,” explained league media bureau chief Willie Marcial.
“And second, magkaiba ‘yung ticket provider, Ticketnet (for Araneta) and MOA.”

In the same advisory, the league said fans can apply for the refund of tickets purchased through TicketNet outlets starting Monday at the TicketNet box office at the yellow gate of the Big Dome.
Meanwhile, fans who purchased tickets online through ticketnet.com.ph need not go to the venue as it will automatically cancel out the purchase from their credit card.
Those who purchased the ticket via PBA though, will have to coordinate with the league's office.
Marcial also said a much austere opening ceremony will begin at 5 p.m. on Wednesday at the MOA Arena, to be followed by the lone match pitting Rain or Shine against Star.
PBA officials are still in discussion with TV5 on what part of the original opening rites will be retained, Marcial added, since it will depend on the availability of the performing talents and muses.
