SAN MIGUEL star June Mar Fajardo sits on top of the statistical race in the Best Player of the Conference for the 2023-24 PBA Commissioner’s Cup but his bid for a 10th BPC crown is in jeopardy following a recent hand injury.
The seven-time PBA MVP suffered a fracture on his left hand that will keep him out for four to six weeks.
FAJARDO HAS PLAYED ONLY 4 GAMES
Under league rules, a candidate must see action in 70 percent of his team’s games in order to be eligible to win the BPC.
Fajardo has only played four games so far in this conference.
He collected 43.3 statistical points (SPs) through 34 total games by all the teams in the Commissioner’s Cup following averages of 19.3 points and league-leading norms of 11.8 rebounds and 3.0 blocks.
STANDHARDINGER RUNNING SECOND
Christian Standhardinger of Barangay Ginebra is currently in second place with 42.8 SPs, followed by CJ Perez of San Miguel with 40.3 SPs.
Maverick Ahanmisi of San Miguel is in fourth with 37.2 SPs, while Arvin Tolentino of NorthPort stands at fifth with 35.5 SPs.
Jio Jalalon of Magnolia (33.7), Mark Barroca of Magnolia (32.8), Scottie Thompson of Barangay Ginebra (31.5), Chris Newsome of Meralco (30.20), Javi Gomez de Liano of Terrafirma (30.17), Paul Lee of Magnolia (30.17), and Calvin Oftana of TNT (29.6) round out the top 12.
