PBA decision to overturn Balkman life ban 'ridiculous,' says Alaska owner Uytengsu

"What consideration went into the decision" to lift the ban on Renaldo Balkman, asks Alaska Milk team owner Wilfred Uytengsu.

THE PBA's decision to overturn the lifetime ban on Renaldo Balkman didn't sit well with Wilfred Uytengsu.

The outspoken Alaska team owner on Wednesday branded as 'ridiculous' the decision to allow the temperamental import to play again, five years after he was banned for life from the pro league for choking a teammate during a game.

"The commissioner's decision to overturn the lifetime ban on Balkman is ridiculous," Uytengsu told SPIN.ph on Tuesday. "What good are sentences if they are simply overturned because the erring party 'apologized?"

Balkman, 33, was handed a P250,000 fine and a lifetime ban after he choked then Petron teammate Arwind Santos, who tried to calm him down after losing his cool over a referee's call in a 2013 PBA Commissioner's Cup game against Alaska.

Uytengsu questioned the process as well as the consideration that led to the absolute pardon.

"What consideration went into such decision," he asked.
