ALASKA will have to wait a while longer for its debut game in the Governors Cup as PBA commissioner Chito Salud cancelled Wednesday’s double-header due to Typhoon Maring and the monsoon rains that have flooded Metro Manila since Monday.
The Aces, the Commissioner’s Cup champions, were supposed to clash with Philippine Cup champion Talk ’N Text Tropang Texters on Wednesday night’s main game at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Also cancelled is the match-up between Globalport and San Mig Coffee, which was supposed to be played at 5:15 p.m.
“The PBA is cancelling its games today due to floods and the continuing inclement weather,” said Salud in his official PBA statement.
The rescheduling of the PBA double-header has yet to be announced.
The cancellation worsened an already clogged schedule for the pro league, which is already pressed for time to finish the season before November after taking a two-month break for Gilas' preparation and stint in the Fiba-Asia championships.
