THE PBA board on Thursday reached an agreement on which team the Gilas Pilipinas cadets will play for next season but declined to reveal the results, opting to keep everything in suspense until the Rookie Draft on Sunday.
Instead of determining the order for the special draft of the Gilas cadets, representatives from the 12 ballclubs agreed to farm out one cadet player per team in a consensus reached during a marathon meeting at the league office in Libis, Quezon City.
A lot of factors, including the needs of each team, dictated the 'pre-determined' order of picking, the league said.
"We took into considerations lahat ng process or means na pwedeng i-determine kung paano idi-distribute yung Gilas players," said league chairman Robert Non of San Miguel at the end of the meeting that took almost five hours to wrap up.
"Lahat pinag-aralan. I dont want to cite specifics. Kumbaga sa amin na lang yun," he added.
The result of the agreement will be revealed just before the regular draft on Sunday at the Robinsons Place Manila, with the announcement to be done in alphabetical order beginning with Alaska and ending with TNT Katropa.
Whatever, big man Mac Belo remains as the consensus pick to emerge as the no.1 overall selection in the special draft.
