THE PBA respects the decision of the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) revoking the playing license of Northport shooting guard John Amores.
Commissioner Willie Marcial said the league will abide by the decision of the government sports regulatory body for pro sports after formally receiving a copy of the resolution duly signed by GAB chairman Atty. Francisco Rivera late Monday.
"The PBA will comply with GAB. Government yun, e," said Marcial. "And the PBA is under the supervision of GAB."
The commissioner though, said he has yet to personally talk to Atty. Rivera regarding the decision that stemmed from the shooting incident Amores and his brother got involved in last Sept. 25 following a pick-up game in Lumban, Laguna.
However, Marcial managed to chat with Amores briefly and disclosed the sophomore player will appeal his case before the GAB.
"Ia-appeal niya raw sa GAB," Marcial quoting Amores as saying.
Amores and his brother are currently facing homicide charges for allegedly shooting at a man following a misunderstanding on an unpaid side bet during a pickup game in Lumban, Laguna last Sept. 25.
The Amores brothers are currently out on bail while undergoing trial. The case had its preliminary hearing last Dec. 4.
The PBA earlier suspended Amores for the entire Commissioner's Cup without pay, but was allowed to join the Northport practices and other team-related events whre he receives a meager stipend.
