PAUL Lee cherished what amounts as his first championship in the PBA after leading Rain or Shine to its Commissioner’s Cup conquest of Alaska, capped off with a 109-92 victory in Game Six on Wednesday night.

The Elasto Painters star out of the University of the East actually captured his second league title, but was injured the first time his team won it all in the 2012 Governors’ Cup.

This time, Lee wasn’t just healthy, but he also left a huge imprint as he was named Finals MVP following a virtuoso performance in the title-clinching game.

After a premature return from injury in the Philippine Cup, Lee preached patience this time and it paid off as he waited for the right time to heal then returned to spearhead the E-Painters in the playoffs.

“Perfect comeback … perfect timing lang,” the former Rookie of the Year said, believing everything just fell into place for the entire squad this conference.

“Kapag healthy lahat sa amin at pinakita ng lahat na gustong manalo, mahirap matalo yung team namin, lalo na pag nagkaisa yung players, yung coaching staff,” said the Tondo native, who was honed in the street courts of BOYAA (Bo. Obrero Youth Athletic Association).
