Downcast Paul Lee laments Rain or Shine will never be the same again after Guiao exit

RAIN or Shine star Paul Lee was left devastated by the surprise exit of longtime coach Yeng Guiao.

Pano kami ngayon? Back to scratch,” said Lee shortly after reading SPIN.ph’s breaking story about Guiao’s move to NLEX.

Kaya balik kami sa umpisa, bagong sistema,” he added.

While lamenting that Rain or Shine is bound to start from scratch with Guiao's exit, Lee bared the seven-time champion coach's move to NLEX is bound to lead to great things for the two-year-old franchise.

“Good move talaga sa kanila 'yun, kasi for sure magiging consistent sila sa playoffs. Parang kami nuong araw,” he said.

Guiao's arrival is also good news for NLEX youngsters Glenn Khobuntin, Harold Arboleda, Garvo Lanete and Kevin Louie Alas, Lee said.

“Basta naniniwala ako mas lalakas sila (NLEX), kasi Coach Yeng yan eh,” said the 27-year-old Tondo native.

Since his contract with Rain or Shine is expiring at the end of the month, Lee was asked if he is looking forward to joining Guiao at NLEX.

Reserve forward Ronnie Matias, who was drafted ninth overall by Guiao for the Burger King Whoppers (Air 21), also expressed sadness over the development.

For Matias, Rain or Shine will never be the same without Guiao.

Lee can only hope for the best.

Basta maka-adjust agad sa bagong sistema,” said the many-time All-Star and Finals MVP.
