PAUL Lee is determined to help keep Magnolia’s winning streak going as it takes on Barangay Ginebra on Sunday.
Lee said the Hotshots are bent on sustaining their winning ways after a 0-3 start to the conference with his team already in sixth place with a 3-4 slate.
Magnolia will be taking on Ginebra with a win moving the Hotshots even closer to the top six and avoid a possible twice-to-beat disadvantage for the seventh and eighth placers.
“We are peaking at the right time. Hopefully, wag maputol ‘yung streak namin dito,” Lee said. “We need to keep working hard. Lagi kaming nireremind ni coach Chito (Victolero) na lahat ng panalo namin, mababalewala kung matatalo kami sa Sunday. We need to be ready.”
Lee scored only six points in Wednesday’s match against Columbian, but also contributed in other aspects of the game after adding seven rebounds and six assists. Lee is currently averaging 11.86 points, 4.86 rebounds, and 3.29 assists.
Lee feels Magnolia is already turning the corner after bowing to close defeats.
“Yung close games, dalawa doon dapat panalo na. Lagi kaming nireremind ni coach Chito na breaks of the game hindi lng napunta sa amin. Ni-remind kami na ‘yung mga ibang laro namin, naipanalo namin sa breaks of the game," Lee said.
"‘Yung sitwasyon namin ngayon, kailangan lang namin harapin. Kailangan ready lang kami kung ano ‘yung nasa harapan namin. Masakit pero kailangan matuto sa mga lessons namin,” he added.
Lee expects a tough challenge from Ginebra, which is currently in fifth place and is also looking to improve on its 4-3 record.
“It’s gonna be a good battle. Siyempre, feeling ko gusto nila bumawi. Lagi ko sinasabi na kailangan lang namin maging ready. Kailangan naming paghandaan ‘yun. Kung gusto namin na tumaas ‘yung standing namin, kailangan ready kami for Sunday,” said Lee.
