PAUL Lee bounced back in a big way and Magnolia is back on track in the PBA Governors’ Cup.
In his second game back with the Hotshots after playing for Team Pilipinas in two international tournaments, Lee had 22 points on 6 of 17 from the field as Magnolia beat Rain or Shine, 92-76, on Wednesday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
He also had seven assists and four steals as he Lee atoned for his eight-point performance in Sunday’s loss to Phoenix where he shot just 3-of-13 from the field.
“I just played my game, and just focus for this game kasi I had a bad game last game. Very important for me to redeem myself. Very important for the whole team going to the next game,” said Lee.
Lee said his struggles in his first game was not due to fatigue after playing for Team Pilipinas in the Asian Games and the Fiba Basketball World Cup Asian qualifiers.
“Wala naman. Masama lang ‘yung gising natin that time,” said Lee.
More than the offense though, Lee said it was the defense that Magnolia coach Chito Victolero was proud of.
Lee also said the win against Rain or Shine is crucial as Magnolia battles more tough teams ahead including San Miguel on Sunday.
“Siguro ‘yung defense namin from start to finish, very happy si coach Chito. Lahat nag-step up especially sa defense,” said Lee.
“Of course, very important (win) kasi eto ‘yung mga team na dapat namin mai-panalo. Kakailanganin namin ’yun at the end of the eliminations. Sa San Miguel, 50-50 na,” said Lee.
