PAUL Lee suffered twice the pain on Wednesday night as Star lost to Alaska in overtime in a PBA Philippine Cup game where he hurt the quadriceps on his left leg.
Getting back on defense after scoring on a layup early in the fourth quarter, the Hotshots star suddenly felt his leg tighten, forcing him to go out with less than two minutes gone by in the period.
Lee, though, managed to return five minutes later, helping the Hotshots in their figthback that just fell short as the Aces closed the game out in the extra sessions.
“Sayang, maganda yung comeback namin pero ‘di talaga para sa amin kasi we got our shots pero hindi pumapasok,” Lee said. “Allein got too many open shots, pero hindi nasho-shoot then si Calvin yun lang yung tinira nyang three point pero na-shoot nya.”
Lee, who missed all but one of his seven three-point attempts, was referring to Calvin Abueva’s triple that gave the Aces an 86-83 lead that Allein Maliksi canceled out with his own three-pointer that sent the game into overtime where the Aces got off to a better start and finished it off.
“So alam mo yun, learn from our mistakes na lang and move on and be ready on our next game,” said Lee, who finished with 10 points on 4-of-15 shooting overall, on top of five boards, four assists, and three steals, against four turnovers in almost 36 minutes.
Lee assured he didn’t suffer a major injury.
“Okay lang. Nag-hard lang yung sa quads ko kaya medyo masakit nung ni-release na,” Lee said. “Chineck na naman ako ng doctor.”
