RAIN or Shine star Paul Lee is keeping his fingers crossed he didn’t aggravate his recently healed left knee in a collision with Ryan Reyes of Tropang TNT in Monday’s PBA Commissioner’s Cup game at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The combo guard out of University of the East grimaced in pain upon crashing to the floor after colliding with Reyes when the Tropang Texters guard took a jumper during the second period of the game won by TNT, 114-103.
He never went back to the game after playing for just three minutes, going 0 for 1 from the field.
Lee walked with a slight limp when he emerged from the Rain or Shine dugout, although he felt the hurting left knee was not as serious as before when it was diagnosed to have a partial tear on the lateral meniscus and ITB (Iliotibial Band) tendon that kept him out of action for most of the season.
“Sana lang hindi ganun kagrabe, pero pakiramdam ko naman kaya ko,” said the former Rookie of the Year.
The 27-year-old pride of Tondo said he’ll have the knee checked as early as Tuesday morning.
“Papa-check ko ulit,” Lee said, adding he didn’t know exactly how he collided with Reyes. “Hindi ko nga alam paano kami nagkatamaan. Basta pagbagsak ko naramdaman ko na lang masakit yung tuhod ko.”
Good thing, the Elasto Painters will have a long break and won’t be back in action until April 1. On Holy Week, they will have a three-day break from Maundy Thursday to Black Saturday.
The break, according to him, will give him enough time to assess the situation and rest his injured knee.
“Malaking bagay yung break, kasi kahit papaano makaka-recover ako,” he stressed. “Doon ko malalaman kung ano ang status ko.”
