MAGNOLIA regained its winning form on Wednesday by trouncing struggling Rain or Shine, 92-76, in the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
The Hotshots atoned for Sunday’s defeat against Phoenix with a lopsided win over the winless Elastopainters, improving their win-loss record to 3-1.
Paul Lee had 22 points while Romeo Travis had 22 points and 16 rebounds to set the tone for the Hotshots, who led by as many as 20 points and were never threatened down the stretgh.
The Elastopainters have yet to pick up a win through two outings after the core of the team played for the national team in the 2018 Asian Games.
“We executed on both ends, offense and defense. I think lahat ng ginawa namin sa practice, nagawa namin. I’m very proud na coming off a loss, nag-bounce back kami,” said Magnolia coach Chito Victolero.
Lee and Travis combined for 21 points right in the first half. The dynamic duo combined in a 10-0 run that put the Hotshots ahead, 35-20.
J’Nathan Bullock had 15 points and 10 rebounds while Gabe Norwood had 12 points for the Elastopainters, who lost their opening game to TNT on Saturday in Passi City, Iloilo.
