PETRON sophomore June Mar Fajardo made a winning return from injury on Friday night but admits it will take a while before he is back to 100 percent in the PLDT myDSL PBA Philippine Cup.
Last year's top pick overall played 24 minutes against GlobalPort in his first game after a three-week layoff owing to an MCL sprain in his knee, getting 12 points, six rebounds and two shotblocks in the Boosters' come-from-behind 98-87 victory.
Fajardo, however, admits he still feels pain in his knee when doing some movements - the reason he is being careful inside the court.
"Medyo naiilang pa ako sa injury ko. May mga instances, may mga moves na medyo sumasakit kaya inaalalayan ko lang," the Cebuano big man said after he emerged from Petron's dugout at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
"Nasa 80 percent na ako, strengthening na lang para kumpleto na," Fajardo added. "Kahapon pa ako sumasabay sa kanila (sa practice) walk through lang naman."
Aside from that, the leading contender for the Best Player of the Conference award knows he needs to shake off the rust in his game after the long layoff, especially since he was left with nothing to do but rest at home during the first week of his recuperation period.
"Medyo (nangalawang)," he said. "Kasi noong first week ko ng injury ko wala akong ginagawa sa bahay lang ako."
But the soft-spoken 24-year-old is confident it won't take long before he becomes 100 percent healthy again.
"Kailangan eh, pero alam ko naman na andon si God para alalayan ako kaya nagpapasalamat din ako sa mga taong nagdadasal para sa fast recovery ko," he said.
