BACOLOD – Papot Paredes has been signed to a one-conference contract by Rain or Shine in a move to address the prolonged absence of rookie Keith Datu.
The former La Salle player last played in the PBA for NLEX on September 29, 2019 against Blackwater. He signed an extension with NLEX the following year but didn’t see action during the Clark bubble.
Paredeswas drafted in 2014 by Barako Bull in the second round. He also had stints with Globalport, Mahindra, and TNT.
The need for an additional big man in the 6-foot-6 Paredes comes after Datu was ruled out indefinitely after sustaining a right MCL sprain, thinning the Rain or Shine frontcourt.
Datu was averaging 5.7 points and 3.7 rebounds before going down with an injury at a time when Rain or Shine got off to a slow start in the PBA Philippine Cup.
The Elasto Painters now have a 1-4 win-loss record as the league entered the All-Star and Lenten break.
