PAOLO Taha exploded with a new career-high 21 points in a lopsided victory by NorthPort over Blackwater, 117-91, in its opening game in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup.

Taha shot 9-of-19 from the field, and also added six rebounds, and three assists as the Batang Pier started their season on a high note.

Taha said he is making an effort to contribute to help Stanley Pringle and Sean Anthony with the scoring load.

“Kailangan lahat mag-contribute eh kung gusto namin manalo,” the 28-year-old guard said. “Hindi pwedeng sila Stanley lang, si Kuya Sean.”

Taha joined five other NorthPort players in double figures with rookie Robert Bolick leading the way with 26 points for the Batang Pier.

“Kailangan lahat mag-step up every game yon,” Taha said as they hope for a deeper run this conference after only winning two games last Governors’ Cup.

“Credit nalang sa teammates ko tsaka sa coaching staff namin, kina coach Pido kasi nga yung game plan namin maganda, effective,” the NorthPort shooting guard said.

Even with his offensive outburst, Taha said he is concentrating on defense for the Batang Pier.

“Ako naman just play defense, yung offense naman darating yon eh,” said Taha.
