Pacquiao's PBA plan may have raised a lot of eyebrows, but it is met with approval from Mommy Dionisia

Mrs. Wrecking Ball would rather see the 'Pacman' playing ball.

MANNY Pacquiao's plan to be a playing-coach in the PBA may have raised a lot of eyebrows, but it has been met with approval from her mother.

Mommy Dionisia admitted she’d rather see her son focus on playing basketball than boxing since she’s never been at ease every time the ring champion climbs the ring.

“Mas mabuti ang basketball kasi dili mabugbog ang katawan niya,” said the colorful Mommy D, whose own version of the Miley Cyrus hit Wrecking Ball on Vice Ganda's show has recently gone viral.

But the flamboyant mother, who turns 64 on May 14, is well aware her wish for her son to leave boxing for now is next to impossible as Pacquiao has just reportedly extended his contract with Top Rank until 2016.

On Thursday, Spin.ph broke the news that the 35-year-old Pacquiao has reached a deal to become playing-coach of expansion team Kia Motors when Asia’s first-ever play-for-pay league opens its 40th season later this year.

Mommy Dionisia welcomed the development, since for the past three years she has been very vocal about her desire for her son to finally quit boxing while his faculties and health are intact.

Kaso 'yan na ang propesyon nya ba,” she said.

Ironically, Mommy D said she used to be against her son playing basketball.

Meanwhile, Pacquiao told Spin.ph in a separate interview that he is not afraid of getting injured inside the court, saying he has faith in God.

“Andyan naman si Lord eh. Siya na ang bahala,” he said. “Saka hindi naman ako laging maglalaro. Mag-co-coach lang ako.”

Spin.ph readers have been against the plan of Pacquiao to play basketball professional, for fear that it will expose him to possible career-threatening injuries.

Pacquiao, some feel, is also making a "mockery" of the league and its players with his plan.

Even longtime boxing analyst Renato Lirio is against the novel idea.

“Hindi ako pabor dyan. Kasi sabi nga nila, you cannot serve two masters at the same time.

May (Floyd) Mayweather fight pa tayong inaabangan lahat.
