MANNY Pacquiao's first official act as Kia Motors coach will have to wait.
The boxing hero has sent word that he won't be able to attend the PBA dispersal draft on Friday since he has to attend to his wife Jinkee, who is sick, PBA officials said.
“Hindi makaka-attend eh. Sayang nga, kaso may sakit daw si Jinkee, kaya kailangan niyang unahin,” said PBA media bureau chief Willie Marcial.
“Hindi kasi alam kung nabinat o kung ano man,” added the special assistant to the commissioner.
Pacquiao was supposed to preside over Kia Motors' selections in the dispersal draft to be held at the PBA office in Libis, Quezon City in a bid to form the core of the team next season.
The proceedings will see Kia and fellow expansion team Blackwater Sports picking from a pool of players left unprotected by the league's existing teams as well as veteran and rookie free agents.
But with Pacquiao unavailable, Kia first assistant coach Glen Capacio is expected to make the selections for the rookie team while coordinating with the 'Pacman' from General Santos City.
